Hello again family!
Quick side note, are y'all cool with being my family? If not we can be kinfolk or something, I just want y'all to be comfortable with our collective.
So today I'm going to be giving you some tips on being your true self. Last post we talked about my struggles with self, but I never really dove into my triumphs. We're going to do some of that today!
(here) Everybody sells hair and lashes, does hair and lashes, sells the furry slides, etc. Why enter into an already over-saturated market instead of creating a niche that no one in your community has immediate access to? Be the first person in your neighborhood to provide a service or a good. Stand out and be different. You know when I was polling people about what I should name my YouTube channel (as dormant as it is), someone suggested Alexis Dior. Now, while I'm not knocking anyone who has "Dior" in their social media name or branding, but I don't even know what the hell it means. It cannot be an accurate representation of myself because I wouldn't brand myself solely based on what's popular. Am I making sense? Now I'm speaking on this topic from the brand era because that's where my mind is right now, but being yourself should still apply in all things that you do.
You don't have to wear the 30in lace if you don't want or keep up with the latest fashion trends. You don't have to listen to the same music everyone is just because it's what's poppin' now. But my favorite thing to think about is that you don't have to being a rude and antisocial because that's what society says is cool. While everyone wants to find their place, you shouldn't have to conform to do so.
Also it gets old having to keep up the facade over time.

Nothing New Under the Sun
I know you've heard your mama or your grandma say this before. It is actually a paraphrase from a scripture in Ecclesiastes. While there is some truth to it, it should not be seen as the end all be all. What I mean is, you don't have to do what everyone is doing just because someone has already done it. Let me explain cause it's starting to sound jumbled.(here) Everybody sells hair and lashes, does hair and lashes, sells the furry slides, etc. Why enter into an already over-saturated market instead of creating a niche that no one in your community has immediate access to? Be Your Own Self
There's never a bad time to be you. Think about the 8+ billion people on the planet, why in the hell would you wanna act, look, think, or be like anyone else? We as a species and a nation and a world are too diverse for that. There probably won't ever be another Alexis Kai in the world and I'm glad about it. Even if by chance there is, she still won't be me! And it's a beautiful thing. Impersonating and faking your identity just robs the world of experiencing you. Your unique and divine light, energy, and spirit. Also it gets old having to keep up the facade over time.
